Story for Empowerment

A child, a changed person, a leader, an organisation.

Farhad's story is not a rehabilitation story. It is a story about what individual investment can grow into — for one person, his family, and the community he now leads.

The journey

From a child with cerebral palsy to an organisation leader

1

A child

Farhad was a child with cerebral palsy. DRRA's initial investment addressed his immediate, practical needs: physiotherapy, a necessary operation, education, and other required support.

2

A changed person

With physiotherapy, surgery and education in place, Farhad's circumstances began to change. This is the foundation every DRRA sponsorship is built on: meeting a person's immediate needs first.

3

A leader

DRRA's support did not stop at rehabilitation. Farhad was subsequently supported to organise, develop knowledge, and build capacity — the skills that let him begin leading rather than only receiving support.

4

An organisation

Today, Farhad leads his own organisation. What began as individual rehabilitation grew into institutional capacity — a structure through which he now works with others.

5

A changed community

Farhad now works with youth. A single individual investment, made when Farhad was a child, has grown into leadership that reaches other young people in his community today.

Why this story matters

Individual investment, institutional outcome

Farhad's story is an example of DRRA's broader belief: that individual change, properly supported over time, can grow into leadership, organisational development and community change. It is presented here not as a single success story, but as a model of what a sponsorship can become.
